Hey All, I thought I'd spice up the dying blog a bit and add some pictures to it. Here's some of the random photos I've taken during my current stay in Perth.

This is Bibra Lake, a lake near my school that I go to once every week or fortnightly. It has nice scenery and wildlife, especially since Spring has arrived =)

Here's some Black Swans. They're not very common outside Australia, but they're everywhere here.

The Cygnets are out too! =) (Aren't they sooooo adorable?)

These are Magpies. They WILL SWOOP and attempt to take your eyes out if you get too near their nests in Springtime (just a little overprotective). I had one chase me from its nesting tree (that I unwittingly walked near one day after school) for about 5 mins with me running towards the main road before it'll leave me alone.

I'm not quite sure what's the proper name for these birds. The locals call them "Willy Wagtail". These birds are not shy at all. They have a very (cute) waggy tail that swings around to disturb the insects in the grass, then they'll grab the bugs for lunch. They would snap a fly from the air in front of your face if they feel like it.

These rather cute birds are called "Galahs". Seriously, its the most cute sounding name for a bird EVER. GALAHS! =P

No idea what's the proper name for these (and this is why I'm taking Psychology, not biology =P). These are some long-necked turtles (or are they tortoises? They have webbed feet) I saw on one of my (6km) rounds around the lake a few weeks back. They actually move rather fast.

Possibly a drawback to the turtle, it can't hide in its shell (which is probably why they move faster than most turtles... from my very limited knowledge anyways)

This is a picture I took with my camera phone this week. The sunsets here are very beautiful.

Lastly, the same sunset from somewhere near my house (no, that's not my place in the picture).

Anyways, that's all I have for now =). I plan to go to Swan River sometime in the next fortnight, and there's probably lots of photo opportunities there as well.

Oh, I'll be back in Singapore on the 22nd Dec 2009 until the 2nd Jan 2010 for my short Christmas break. I am tentatively arranging for my 21st Birthday Party to be held on the 26th December (Saturday). Its very very tentative at the moment, but it looks like it might be at a club/lounge at Clarke Quay. ARTICLE: Mud phobia pig gets its own boots

A piglet scared of wallowing in mud has overcome its fears with the help of some Wellington boots.

Six-week-old Cinders appears to suffer from mysophobia, a fear of dirt, after refusing to join her siblings as they splashed around in the mud.

Owner Andrew Keeble from Thirsk, North Yorks, said his daughter Ellie, 12, suggested kitting her out in the tiny footwear which had been on a key ring.

"Lo and behold they fitted her like a glove," Mr Keeble said.

"She's scared of mud, but her brothers and sisters are quite happy in it.

"We've never come across this before. They are born really to go and explore, but she never really liked going in the mud."

No slaughter

Mr Keeble and wife Debbie, both 42, run a sausage company and keep about 200 pigs on their 1,000-acre farm.

But the father-of-four said there was no chance that Cinders would be slaughtered.

"She's more of a pet really now and she's going to live a very long and happy life," he said.

The young saddleback has been chosen by the couple as a mascot for their campaign to raise money for the Farm Crisis Network, which supports struggling farmers.

Haha, the previous video of Madam Zhang Zhi has the captions " PJC Chinese Teacher with her little irritating actions" and "She just cannot control her hand from swing her hair and.. adjusting her bra strap in front of the whole class."

I just found the captions terribly funny. hehe..

Hi Guys,

Does anybody even READ this blog? The comments box is like, dead o.0.

Anyways, I came across this thing, and thought it'll be GREAT for a class outing.This year's annual class gathering is on the 10th of May (Saturday) right? to make it on the weekend so the botaks can join us =).

Go check it out, Its a little far for most of us, at Bedok. However, it does look really fun, and I just thought it'll be great for a class outing. Nothing like sweating and climbing trees and screaming down ziplines to re-unite a class back together =).

Btw, I'm looking at the Grand course, not kids course =P. But then again, we need to make sure everybody's tall enough to go on the grand course, height MUST be 140cm or more, due to the fact that the person needs to be able to hook themselves to the safety line. So yeah, I -think- everybody in the class is above 140 right? *looks innocent*

Sooo... do leave comments if this seems like an interesting course. Preferably sms me or e-mail me (pam_lam@hotmail.com) so I can see the number of interested participants? Its S$22.00 if we bring along our Student Pass and pretend that we're students. If not, its S$25.00 for adults. The entire course runs along Bedok Reservoir and some of the zip lines runs over the resevoir.

Any other ideas for class outings, please do post on the bloggie. Meanwhile, please please please e-mail me if you're interested, I wanna see how popular this idea is before I go ahead and try to arrange it =).

In a few days time, I will be going away to a faraway island to take part in the latest reality series - SURVIVAL, Guatatekong....5 months ago, I received a parchment from a dove that slams into my glassw window stating that im selected by the tribemaster of tekong, Chief Tatamo to receive training in Guatatekong. As part of the Mauris tribe tradition, I have to shave bald before im considered as one of them. I will be transported there by Hak, the majestic pelican that ferries chosen ones to and fro the ancient island. In the parchment, it was also stated that I will be learning the art of tossing shrunikens at the "live range", learning the art of stealth to "camouflage" into my surroundings and to throw shrinukens that explodes. So do not worry dearest peeps cos I will take care of myself and to ensure Im not eliminated after every season...Cya guys and remember to catch me on cartoon network, every friday from 8pm to 10pm.

Dan and i and most ppl who are still long-haired will be going into army soon so i'm kinda sure u wont see most guys around.

i today blogged about one thing that we've all agreed on on the last day of sch...our tis year's class gathering which is supposedly the 6th of may I.E. 06/05/08.... however, its a tuesday which means most of us baldies wont be able to make it... so would we settle for a gathering on the 10th or 11th may which is the weekend of that same week ?

i wont be around so i most prolly cannot arrange nor can the other baldies/soon to be baldies... so why not some of the girls try and organise tis year's gatherings? hahah

people pls post ur reply to the idea onto the blog cos the tagboard may be flushed out by spammers!! hahah

i personally prefer it at somebody's hse...more accessible that dumb east coast :P haha like agnes or er.... sarah's or .....liyana's ( i wont mind the sambal prawns ) or edwin's hse or anybody's hse as long as its more accessible than ECP!!

hi guys, know u folks jus recieved the A level results...some are feelin elated others are feelin kinda down...so let me offer some advice to everybody and keep our heads up ok?
nothing in the world is straight flowing and nothing is easy...nobody galentee that A levels will always produce straight A students...well cept sk and a few others ... yup so naturally there will be people who din do well...its ok its not the end of the world to not do well...so what if u cant get into medicine? mayb ur talents are somewhere else like designing or mayb u are more fitted to go to a business management? its ok not to be a doctor or lawyer cos the world will not be a better place with more of them around. its ok to have a low point of time in our life...den we can proudly announce to the world how we bounce back to our heights again... lets be brutally honest now..sorry for being so. those who did well, well done! u lucky basta$$S haha kidding make wise choises about the courses u're interested to take and rem to ask teachers opinoins before u make a choice.... if u've done really badly, ur choices are only to retake it or to take sats or to go abroad..that is how u make a path for urself back into tis meritocratic world. wallowing in self pity is only reserved for the weak and useless.. our life is like a story, with lots of highs and lows, climaxes and anti-climaxes...for eg in happy otter, dumbbydor died and it was a low point in the storyline and had a sad feeling as u finish the chapter, but the next chapter was filled with hope and anticipation again... thats how great stories are made...people are allowed to be sad but only the great will not wallow to the depths of self pity.. so people HEADS UP and onwards!!! :D

hi all! i think the blog's becoming my personal blog already! =DDD

anyway, josh's taking japanese lessons now, so i was kinda inspired to pick up another language. went to the lib n found "SIGN LANGUAGE FOR DUMMIES". just the right thing for me! =D it's quite interesting leh! =Dthe author went into detail to help us understand the plight of the deaf or hard of hearing ( cannot say hearing impaired, deaf and dumb, or deaf mute! ) excerpt from the "what's it like to be deaf>" section:

" i head towards the door- toward the world of sounds and to the world of ignorance. [...] i drive to the food market. people do not see me as different. as i walk up and down the aisle, sometimes i stop to read the labels on the packages. sometimes people come up behind and say, "excuse me." they might repeat this several times and then become angry when i don't move, thinking i'm being rude. It has been some time, one month or so, since the end of the 'A' levels. More than two months after the GP ordeal.

I was a little bored so i searched for "gp essay" on yahoo!, and the following is from the second site i visited.

'The death penalty is justified because it - and it alone - pays proper respect to the importance of human life.' What is your view on this?

Much has often been said about the sanctity of human life. The gift of life is a privilege bestowed upon us. Even though each life may tread different roads, encounter different experiences, there is one fact that binds all lives together - we only live once.

The quality of life, however, is a variable factor that is sometimes beyond our mortal means of control. It is undeniable, though, that everyone is entitled to an equal shot at the myriad of chances life presents to us. Out of this whole concept of the sanctity and sacredness of life arises the debate on capital punishment, or the death penalty.

There are those who despise the death penalty for its apparent cruelty and the finality that it implies, and yet others who look upon it as the ideal and only way to pay proper respect to the importance of human life. But the pertinent issue that we must examine here today is whether the death penalty is truly justified in its execution and also if it is the only, and ultimately, the most suitable means of paying homage to the value of human life.

Today, approximately ninety countries around the world still retain the death penalty. This includes China, Islamic countries, Singapore, as well as thirty seven states of the United States. The controversy surrounding this form of criminal punishment has never faltered over the years, however, as people call into question the humanity of terminating a criminal's life.

Article 3 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights clearly states: "Everyone has the right to life, liberty and security of person." It is on this basis that many anti-death penalty activists argue their case, by claiming that the government flagrantly disregards the sanctity of human life by disallowing the criminals their right to live. Then there are those who claim that the death penalty is hypocritical because while it sends out a message that murder is a crime that should be condemned, the government is doing precisely what it condemns by murdering the criminal. Yet others bring out the seeming futility of executing criminals; they preach peace and forgiveness, and despise the death penalty for its seeming emphasis on vengeance.

Surely these are valid arguments. And clearly they have their own logic. However it is my own personal belief that the death penalty is justified not only in its punishment of criminals, but also as the most respectable way to uphold the sanctity of human life. It must be understood that the death penalty is only meted out in cases which involve murder. When a criminal goes so far as to commit the crime of murder, he is obviously exhibiting his disregard for the victim's right to life. Human rights are a contract deal. Freedoms of individuals should, theoretically, be respected and unhindered but it cannot, and must not, infringe on another's rights. If one takes away the right to life of another person (as murder clearly does), at that moment he himself has already forfeited his right to life.

Instead let us examine how the death penalty serves to protect the people, and why in the administration of the death penalty, it is not hypocritical. There are the four tenets of justice - retribution, rehabilitation, deterrence, and incapacitation. Out of the above four, the death penalty clearly satisfies three, with only the exception of rehabilitation. And this is only so because the criminal in question here does not even deserve a chance at rehabilitation because of the gross nature of his crime. To examine the relation between the death penalty and the respect for human life, let us assume that the criminal is truly guilty of his offense, thus eliminating much of the debate about the sentencing innocents to the death row. In any case, it must be remembered that there are at least 28 mandatory procedures that the criminal goes through before reaching the death sentence, and as such the likelihood of sentencing the wrong person to death is very low. It is possible, but nonetheless very rare.

Firstly, the death penalty pays proper respect to the importance of the life of the victim. While others may dismiss this as vengeance and that killing the perpetrator of the crime will in no way bring back or even compensate the loss of an innocent, the view from the other side of the coin may be such that this act of retribution will not only bring consolation to the victim's family that justice has been done, but also act as an effective deterrent to potentially dangerous characters in society such that they think twice before committing such a hideous crime. It is even in the Bible that retribution is one of the most effective means of punishment. Exodus 21/23 says "And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life, eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot." How, and why should one give so much concern and respect for a murderer and pardon him from the death row when he himself could not pardon his victim from death?

The death penalty also pays respect to the murderer's life. How so, one may ask, could it be that we are respecting the murderer's life when one is forcibly taking it away cruelly? It is presumed that the murderer in question is guilty in this case to have reached the level of being passed the death sentence. As such, punishment must be meted out. If not the death sentence, he will surely be passed lifetime imprisonment with hard labour, without parole. While it has been frequently debated what kind of mercy this is in comparison to death, what kind of life then does it leave the murderer? To live each day with the knowledge of his crime and guilt eating at him? How much more mercy is it, to jail him in a living tomb, to waste the rest of his life away in monotonous toil, without the small pleasures of life others are entitled to enjoy, depriving him and making him suffer? Is it not comparable to being one of the living dead? If accorded the death penalty, his torture and pain would over in a few minutes, and his death would be a rapid one. John Stuart Mills too said the death penalty was "the least cruel mode in which it is possible adequately to deter from the crime… in our horror in inflicting death, we devise some punishment… with a deterrent force comparable to death… this is far more cruel in reality."

Lastly, the death penalty accords due respect to the rest of society. The death penalty puts away criminals for good, most of them hard-core and repeat offenders, and thus protects society from these undesirable characters. Ultimately, it is one of the best ways to respect the safety and liberty of the people by allowing them to roam the streets without fear in their hearts for their lives and safety. Besides the obvious incapacitated state of the convicted, the deterrence effect of the death penalty is also far from negligible. Numerous studies in the United States (like Utah from 1976 to 1988) showed a noticeable drop in murder rates in the months directly following any execution. The death penalty helps to keep the streets, and innocents, safe.

The debate on the death penalty will never go away. It is my belief, however, that it is justified because it alone pays proper respect to the importance of human life. It respects the human life of the victim, the life of the convicted, as well as those of the innocents. The game of life must be played, and those who flout the rules and cheat by killing off other players must pay the price, however expensive. (azu kissed me on the ELBOW ok omg!) i think i'll be slaughtered if i be explicit about the game here. but oh well~ it makes good black mail content =) so ya, if anyone's interested in knowing who did what, just email me! ;) there's always room for negotiations! WOOTS, so in all, that was a pretty fun celebration right? ( of cus the main factor lies in the author of this post la~)

i'll start the ball rolling!

as some of u might know, i am now working (sort of) as a teacher. will be spending a month as a teaching intern at swiss cottage before heading off to pj for bio remedial lessons. just completed my 3 days training at nie: the 1st day wasn't very enjoyable as i had to endure a - (deleted lol, =D i just realised there might be teachers reading this! plus i dun wana be sued =DD)-> [modified] a not very stimulating course of lessons for a V LONG day... but the 2nd and 3rd days were pretty enlightening. i'll just talk about the 3rd day (today):

for today's finale, we had 3 guest speakers sharing with u the meaning of being a teacher. there was the usual ___ (cldn't find a word) to attract us to be teachers. (they had FANTASTIC FOOD as well!! so shiok!- i get 2 teabreaks and a lunch of good food evday, which i suspect was to this purpose HAHA joking) lol, that's being a bit unfair la. the speakers were actually very enlightening and convincing. the most enriching component was a sharing by the principal of the northlight school. here's abit of bg info: northlight school (NLS) is a school that was officially started in jan 2007. it caters specifically to students with weak academic abilities and have failed the psle for a few times. it has a modified curriculum focusing on ict skills rather than the academics. well, the principal was one of those lady whom you might pass off as, experienced, probably quite wise, but probably not fantastically interesting enough for us to absorb that wisdom off her.

-- i was wrong. she started the speech by telling us, "i didn't prepare any ppt slides unlike the others. i'm just here to talk." then she commanded us to stand up and stretch to wake us up lol... cus i think she saw some of us nodding off. so my first impression of her was: internal groann. but after that, she went on to describe the setting up of northlight and how she was the culprit responsible for the implementation of spa. lol. despite the fact that she wasn't a very fluent public speaker, she was incredibly interesting. this was probably because of the stories of her pupils. her stories were of an inspiring nature, they highlighted that there was good in humanity. she was telling us about how as a new principal, she boldly refused to have people posted to her school (the usual mtd) and announced that she wanted ppl to apply instead. the large response was heartening. she then went on to explain the northlight crest. it has a midnight blue background with a rising star. she said (to her students): "there are stars whether it's night or day, just that stars shine more brightly at night. just like the stars, you must fight through ur difficulties. the harder it gets for u, the brighter u will shine- just like how the star shines its brightest when the night is darkest." northlight was meant to represent how the school will be the guiding light for her students. cool eh?

then she recounted the story of this little boy who failed psle multiple times and was labelled somewhat as a troublemaker in school. the boy's brother (breadwinner) used to beat him up everytime he received a complaint, or a failure in a test/ exam. he transferred to northlight, and at their parent teacher meeting, the little boy, for the first time in his life, passed his exams. his brother hugged him! he then went up to the principal and said "thank you! today's the first day i felt what it was like to receive a hug!" so sweet isn't it? it got me thinking.. i have always led a pretty sheltered life. while i was aware that in every race there were winners and losers, it never really occurred to me what happens to the recurrent "losers" of the academic race- esp in s'pore. she took us through this pic slideshow of the school's activities: the school looked like any other school. they had speech day and academic awards. i then realised how especially sweet it must've felt for them, to taste success for the first time. to be able to go through school without being inevitably discriminated against as the "repeat" (quite rare in pri sch). inspiring isn't it? lol... now i sound like i'm preaching n trying to lure more ppl to teach. =D haaa, i'm just reflecting la, so pls pardon my grandmother story. i suffer from the "blogger's endless rant syndrome" u see. yea, so that's that. there was a few more interesting stories but i won't go on. (i hear you eileen (if u're reading)=DD haha, yea i know, i should shut up =DD )

i'll be posting my thoughts about my short stint as a teacher, so i'm hoping to see some of your stuff!! EVERYTHING! like when u go out n see a nice xmas tree n take a pic or sth. A little note for everyone

Hey guys,

Tomorrow i'm going to go back and visit my family so i won't be seeing all of you until the release of results (can you guys help keep me informed of the date, i don't want to miss it :p).... So just want to say that i will seriously seriously seriously miss all of you so so much.

I always feel very blessed to be put in this class. To have all the wonderful, wacky, funny, amazing, etc etc people (aka all of you) as my classmates is truly a gift. I will miss all the times when we have fun in the class; competing with each other who can get the back seats first, who will put back the plates during breaks, eating hot dogs every tuesday, running around and hearing mr yaw shout during PE, going to lectures and tutorials with all of you, going to the library and study (then getting scolded by fat lady aka great white shark for talking), teasing each other and just spending time together. We can probably fill ten books with all the memories we had. Really, all of you made JC the best time of my life.

So, in conclusion (remember what Mrs Leong said, no one-line conclusion! hahaha...) keep in touch all of you :D Guys, remember to put a note or something in this blog before you leave for NS and if possible a pic (so that we can see the 'before and after' hehehe...). Hello all. I guess it's gonna be a very long time before we can all meet up as a class. With the guys going to army, some going back to their hometowns overseas, and other busy with one thing or another, it will be a really long time indeed. Well, before we all lose contact (I hope not!), I'd just like to say that I'll miss everyone dearly, whether I had either good or/and bad experiences with them. XD.

Seriously, this is the best class I've ever been in, with many interesting and very, very nice people! I feel really lucky that our class is very different from the others: Ours is a warm one, where everyone is gel together tightly, whereas other classes tend to be cold and cliques tend not the interact with each other.

Not only do I have great classmates, my teachers are fantastic as well. I know, I do complain about some, sometimes a little too often, but I do cherish them. I believe I won't have to state how special they are.

This has been such a special experience, and I'm pretty sure that I'll never forget these 2 years in 06S05. :D

Some of us (azu,eileen,sk,sarah, me, weiwei, edwin,joshua) went to the zoo today!!! we had alot of fun.. right sk?

Hello!!! Yea!!! All of us are going to say BYE to A level soon!!! Dun miss him ok? Haha..

I guess some of us are becoming to have a mature way of thinking already… LOL. Thinking of learning to drive a car!!! Is it trying to beat with Dan? Or is it something else? Haha…

Yup, here's some info of it.

First you go online http://www.bbdc.sg/bbdc/xl/XL200_lite/home.asp, to sign up to be a member. I cant really remember how much is the sign up fee, but I think is around $5+. Then you can book a date for your theory test. Some of us are planning to go together very very soon. So may be can go with us? Yup, you have to take 2 theory test – basic and final. Then after you have passed the 2 tests, you are ready to go for practical lessons already!!! =)

For practical lessons, you can choose to learn in school, not PJC (-_-) but Bukit Batok Driving learn, or private.

I am not too sure about how the school’s fee is like but I know it is going to be WAY TO EXPENSIVE!!! Maybe you can find out more from Dan? If you want to go for private… I got lobang, HAHA!! Which is my 3rd uncle!!! He is a driving instructor too!!!

First, you have to pay a membership fee too which is $30, but my uncle say no need to pay that because you guys are my friends!!! Feel touched ….? LOL.

Next, the fees, there are 2 category for practical – Auto or Manual. It is better to take the Manual because auto is for local ONLY but for manual is for international. Moreover, if you want to take auto after you have passed the manual, you can switch to auto easily rather than the other way round. That information is from my uncle. Oh ya, auto is also more expensive but I am not too sure how much is it he is charging. There are two types of fees for Manual, weekdays and weekends/public holidays. But he is going to charge you guys all ONLY weekdays’ price even for weekends/public holidays. Becauseeeeeeee …. You guys are my friends!!! Feel touched again?? HAHA…

1 hr -- $22
1.5 hrs -- $33

There is no fix number of lessons that you have to take… Once you are really for it, my uncle will tell you that you are ready for the practical test. But the more you take in a week, the more you can practice, the faster you can go for the test!!! YEA!!! But that is after you have passed your two theory test then you look for my uncle. Azie + her cousins and sam + her sis already want to sign up from my uncle. Maybe you guys can ask azie how is it like n not sam cos he will be in NS… so after NS he then take practical…

Hey class, i've just checked the chalet ratings ..and its incradibly expensive for students like us..its $98 per night.so if two nights, guess its double of that, agree?

So, i discussed with michelle.and we were thinking, instead of chalet, why not just go for a class bbq..we can do it from morning til night and even stay overnight since i have a tent for the girls to sleep in and i can ask my grandfather for his tent also , if necessary (for the guys if they wana sleep in tents also.. :P) or guys can also sleep outside on ground mats, both can.. :)

so dun worry, the $4 the class haf given me will then be used to pay for bbq payments and also food expenses alritey?

let me assure those of you who never before in ur life stayed overnight by the beach, i tell you from personal experience, its awesome!! haha its totally like mine and my extended family's pasttime together..wahahah..

So maybe after chem p2 paper on coming tue, we can like stay back to discuss who to bring what, etc?? and also for me to finish collecting the money from the rest who hasn't done so.

so, if there is some objections to the idea of class bbq..do let the class know, maybe thru the tagboard(faster that way). And we can discuss again.Till then, continue study hard guys.. we're halfway there!! jia you!! :D

We arrived at Cineleisure and ate sushi buffet at Suki Sushi. It turns out that a "couple" would want to have their "own" time alone.... Hehe.. (sad sia they dont even wanna sit with us ) Perhaps they wanna have their own quiet time together? or perhaps smth else?? They even had a wonderful time before all of us arrive shopping from Cineleisure to Lucky Plaza. Sweet rite? Ken still ask if they wanna join us at Suki Sushi but they were somehow force to come. =p)

Look at them man! So engrossed in their conversation* that they didnt even notice us taking photos...

Next, we planned to go Kbox to sing our hearts out. But Michelle disagreed ( i dunno why....perhaps is her singing? hehe) No worries Michelle, ur singing is fine. At least is better than Ken, Man. U guys will be "blown" away by his singing. Hehe. (But he sings quite good la just that with the occasional off-tuned and the SHE-ish voice of his...I guess SHE will be simply overjoyed*

Surprisingly, it seems like our couple of tat day expressed their affection for each other through their singing...Look at how elated Edwin is! Just simply love the way he sings phantom...its just like my first step in the abbatoir HeHe jkjk

Hey class!

As the title suggest, this is my last 'speech' to you guys as your CM (sounds like a funeral eulogy...lol)

Well, these two years have been really really REALLY great to put it simply. There are of course many ups and downs, many blood and tears shed preparing for events like the Green Day Bazaar or the Open House but I wouldn't trade those experience for anything in the world. The whole class are a mix of very...unique....people but all of you are great! Hopefully, all of you will think that I have done a good job as your CM, if not, well, I sincerely apologise for any mistake I have done to any of you. Sorry for all the constant nagging for the various forms or slips btw haha ;)

SOOOO.....yeah.....Good luck for your A levels, study hard, add oil, gambade, you can do it, I believe in you, don't let our teachers down, keep in contact, and invite the whole class if any of you get married ;D
